A Little More SAW

September 4th, 2009 at 10:06 pm » Comments (0)

This is almost the same image as the last frame of the SAW motion poster, only with more details. Which, quite frankly, doesn’t add much. Might even detract from the clean sharpness of the other image. Not exactly a home run.
It also strikes me that this latest SAW film has lacked any distinctive design element [...]

Halloween II Some Motion Poster

September 1st, 2009 at 10:21 pm » Comments (1)

Well, the hot streak of motion posters had to end eventually. So after several motion posters that seemed to understand how to use the liberty of the new media we get this, basically the same thing as the final poster but with some motion thrown in, almost as an after thought. Not exactly awe-inpiring.

SAW 6 (SIX!) Teaser

July 27th, 2009 at 9:16 pm » Comments (0)

I mentioned when I was talking about the motion poster that Jigsaw has been more and more present in the posters for the latest SAW movies. This poster reminds me that this is only part of the trend. The marketing in general for the latest films strikes me as having a strong self referential bend. [...]

SAW does the Motion Poster Thing

July 22nd, 2009 at 7:34 pm » Comments (2)

I guess it’s only natural that we now have a motion poster for a SAW movie. Creative and memorable (not to mention bloody) posters have been a trademark of the series, but as the years and movies went by it became harder and harder to create yet more posters that maintained the level of quality [...]

Another Step Forward For Motion Posters

July 1st, 2009 at 8:26 pm » Comments (2)

Both the static and the motion poster for I Can Do Bad All by Myself follow in the tradition set by many teaser posters for Tyler Perry movies. Sober designs, often using darker tones, that showcase a clear sentimentality in a straightforward but not over the top or cheesy way. It’s quite beautiful and memorable. [...]

Terminator and Some Regular Posters

March 17th, 2009 at 10:54 pm » Comments (1)

I liked the previous posters for Terminator: Salvation, including the very cool motion poster. These new character posters are a bit of a disappointment tough. Very usual action posters, with the characters looking busy and loads of stuff flying around, which mostly serves to muddle the image.
The new posters don’t really explore in any effective [...]

Disgusting in Motion

March 5th, 2009 at 9:45 pm » Comments (1)

(See the continue reading link for the poster, because having it load on the front page was way too distracting)
This “motion poster” was pretty effective when I saw it the first time. Caught me by surprise, grabbed my attention, and made me feel pretty disgusted. Pretty decent combo for a horror movie. And obviously moving [...]

New Terminator Salvation Poster

December 1st, 2008 at 8:03 pm » Comments (4)

I have to admit, the Terminator’s face emerging from the destroyed remains of a city is one of the coolest poster images I have seen this year. A very good idea expertly executed in this case.
And this flash “moving” version makes the whole thing even better. I wonder how long it will take until motion [...]

Russian Speed Racer Poster

CTAPT! That’s a pretty long way to say Go. Of course, I have no idea how it’s pronounced so maybe it’s really brief when people actually speak it.
As for the poster, it’s not as good as most of the Speed Racer poster, but it’s still kind of cool in the way it [...]
