No Kidding Sherlock

October 27th, 2009 at 8:51 pm » Comments (4)

The Sherlock Holmes posters so far have been pretty consistent visually, always sporting some fog, and blue tinge (a little more pronounced here) and backgrounds that scream period. Not earth shattering stuff, but distinctive enough to to be remembered and essentially ok for a movie which will be sold as “Robert Downey Jr. IS [...]

Second Daybreakers Poster

October 15th, 2009 at 9:50 pm » Comments (1)

This is not exactly the poster one would expect from a vampire movie. Especially not after the first, much more genre standard, poster. But it does make sense once you take into account that the film takes place in the near future and that an important plot point is that vampires are now harvesting [...]

New Moon Posters

September 30th, 2009 at 9:26 pm » Comments (2)

So, here we have a bunch of poster for the new Twilight movie. First, Werewolves!

Now, Vampires!

And, to finish off, we have … hmmm, more Vampires? With a human or two thrown in there? I think?

Ok, ok, I don’t actually know anything about the series, so I’m not sure what I’m talking about. And honestly, the [...]

Law Abiding Citizen Gets Another Poster

September 17th, 2009 at 9:31 pm » Comments (0)

The Law Abiding Citizen poster campaign has seen several iterations of the same concept: Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx’s heads float around some stylish design that tries to make the poster energetic and hip. The design changes but the same problem remains: the posters tell us nothing about the movie or about the relation [...]

More 2012

The giant waves seem a little underwhelming in this image. If you are not paying close attention you might confuse them with the mountains they are engulfing. But this problem aside I actually quite like the idea of the poster, and of the related scene we can see in the trailer.
The basic formula for making [...]

Prince of Persia Posters

I think Peter nails it: these posters look like glossy magazine covers. Quite serious and somber glossy magazine covers in fact. Which strikes me as pretty odd, considering this is an epic adventure through an enchanted land. I’m sort of getting the adventure part, but the enchanted land and the epic escape me. Lots [...]

Inglorious (But Very Good Looking!) Killers of Nazis

July 9th, 2009 at 8:45 pm » Comments (0)

Brad Pitt as Nazi killing machine, and some vaguely humorous text. This is the most crystal clear case for why you might want to see this film I have seen so far. It’s not necessarily my favorite design, as I’m quite fond of the character posters with the white and red background that have cropped [...]

9 + 9 + 9 = Too Much

June 5th, 2009 at 10:44 pm » Comments (5)

So, just to make everything clear. This year will see the release of 9 an animated film directed by Shane Acker which has this very cool Russian poster:

Scary, funny and compelling in all the right ways isn’t it? Reminds me a little of Coraline, and I mean that in a good way.
Also coming out this [...]

More Transformers

June 4th, 2009 at 10:26 pm » Comments (1)

This is kind of a weird poster. Here we have our favorite heroes running either towards or from some unseen something, being shown from sort of a strange angle. And the robots look uncharacteristically cartoonish, considering how much of this series has been based around showing what these giant creatures might look like in real [...]
