New Moon Posters

September 30th, 2009 at 9:26 pm » Comments (2)

So, here we have a bunch of poster for the new Twilight movie. First, Werewolves!

Now, Vampires!

And, to finish off, we have … hmmm, more Vampires? With a human or two thrown in there? I think?

Ok, ok, I don’t actually know anything about the series, so I’m not sure what I’m talking about. And honestly, the [...]

More Where The Wild Things Are Posters

What could I add that I haven’t said before? Nothing, I guess. But I can’t not post these character posters. That would be a treason of my very palpable excitement at these creatures and at the way they are being presented to us.

Where The Wild Things Are Poster

This is not my favorite image from Wild Things. Not by far. But I still can’t help but to appreciate the mesmerizing dream like tone that all the posters (and the trailer) for this movie have had. Endless fascinating, even in the lesser incarnations, like the one above.

Prince of Persia Posters

I think Peter nails it: these posters look like glossy magazine covers. Quite serious and somber glossy magazine covers in fact. Which strikes me as pretty odd, considering this is an epic adventure through an enchanted land. I’m sort of getting the adventure part, but the enchanted land and the epic escape me. Lots [...]

G.I. Dull

May 28th, 2009 at 10:23 pm » Comments (1)

I complained that in the last batch of posters the characters in G.I. Joe all looked the same. Well, in this poster a much better job is done of distinguishing the bad guys from the good guys. The good guys are surrounded by blue flames and background. The bad guys are surrounded by red flames [...]

Feels Like Christmas

May 19th, 2009 at 9:15 pm » Comments (3)

This poster for A Christmas Carol hits just the perfect balance between seeming like a hundred posters you have seen before and still having enough fresh elements to appear modern. Which is exactly as it should be.
Obviously you can’t have a poster that makes the film seem like something straight from the 80’s. And yet [...]

Life is Hard for Everyone

Poor Donald Faison, not only has Mos Def suddenly become a bigger star than him, the guy also stole his arms!
Tough luck, but are you going to do, right Donald?

Harry Potter and the Typical Harry Potter Poster

February 6th, 2009 at 9:15 pm » Comments (2)

Half-Blood prince is going to be the sixth Potter movie. So it’s no surprise that by now they have a marketing formula they think works and is not worth straying from. For the posters this means lots of character posters showing the characters either looking distressed or looking ready to fight back. Apparently it also [...]

Ending With a Whimper, Not a Bang

January 29th, 2009 at 9:12 pm » Comments (0)

The Watchmen poster campaign has mostly kept a coherent visual style and used well the fascinating characters. This poster gets all of those characters together and keeps the same visual style, so I guess I can’t complain about it too much. Still, it’s sort of a dull ending for a campaign that had a great [...]

Land of the Lost Poster

January 5th, 2009 at 9:37 pm » Comments (3)

There are a few things about this poster that confuse me.
First, the poster seems to position Land of the Lost as a pretty straight fantasy/adventure. However, both the film and the poster star Will Ferrell, who isn’t exactly known for playing it straight. So, is this a more serious turn for Will? Or is it [...]
